Mandatory Recycling & Compost in San Fran Makes the World Greener

The city of San Francisco has just signed a mandate that states all residents and businesses must separate recycling from compost. This is the first law of its kind in the US.

The San Francisco mandate will take effect this fall in the hopes to increase landfill diversion rates to 75% by 2010 and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The city’s ultimate goal is to have zero waste by 2020.
