Will future kazillionaires have the guts to give up the mega-yacht and instead go for a movable island? The “Mermaid” by Julien de Smedt Architects is a proposed private development that amounts to a total community.

For the richies, the luxury accommodations and accouterments would be unmatched. Having an island would allow the kazillionaire to provide housing for staff that would be completely insulated. The ‘Mermaid’ even features a dolphinarium, where dolphins can gather in the cave-like structure.
