Edible insects are delicacies in some parts of the world, and slowly, but surely, the popularity of eating bugs is catching on, especially with high-end restaurants that offer insects. Alexander McQueen has even gotten in on the action by making insect-shaped marzipan -- it seems that the North American market is not quite ready for the real thing.
To make things even easier, there are several inventions that are making it more convenient for consumers to grow their own bugs at home for consumption, like grow-your-own grasshopper kits and cookbooks all about making insect-based dishes. In the summer months, bugs are as pesky as they are abundant and if you can't beat them, one effective way to combat these critters is to eat them instead.
