Eco-plastic packaging is paving the way for the future by limiting the harmful impact that plastic has on the environment. The truth is, plastic has been around for centuries and is a popular material for producing products and consumer packaging.

In order to wean off of plastic, a substitute must be put in place to either mimic or surpass the attributes of this material. Some eco-friendly materials such as cellulose-based plastics are huge competitors; they limit the amount of fossil fuels involved during production and use the natural properties of plants as opposed to man-made chemicals.

There are other kinds of plastics made with deceased insects and clay-based hydrogels as well. For now, consumers should decrease production and limit waste by reusing their plastic products.
