As indicated by many of the top August 2014 world ideas, the travel industry has seen a staggering amount of change in the last few months alone.

Some of the most noteworthy innovations include the opening of the ARK terminal for pets in the JFK airport, the Henn-na Hotel being completely run by robots and the Virgin Hotel in Chicago reducing the prices on its minibar items to match street prices.

In terms of luxury travel around the world, some of the biggest innovations include Lufthansa purifying the air of its first class cabins with humidifiers, Isetan Mistukoshi Travel selling expensive tickets for a spot on its 10-person train and the opening of the Sunset Lounge on the roof of the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, known as the tallest hotel in the world.
