People know that they should be careful with what they share on social media, but rather than giving up expression online altogether due to the prying eyes and judgement from friends, parents or prospective employers, anonymous social apps are a great way to get your feelings out without getting in trouble for speaking your mind.

Although there are a lot of people on the Internet who take advantage of anonymity to lash out at others, a lot of these apps are more positive, putting a focus on content rather than the content creators or helping people get things off their chest. There are also varying levels of anonymity, ranging from apps where you can post text messages to sharing blurred video confessions or actually connecting with some of your friends while posing as a stranger.
