Spectacular Wallpaper Installations
Wies Preijde Creates a Mesmerizing Home Using Only Paper

By: Michael Hemsworth (Superstar) Mar 24, 13
{SummaryTitle}

Wallpaper is synonymous with notions of tacky retro decor, but artist Wies Preijde creates a dramatic scene using the stuff that is sure to make you doubt the experience. The installation features fibre walls that have paper pieces of art that are affixed onto each section. What’s created is somewhat of an optical illusion because the relatively modest-sized installation looks like a house.

Each of the walls is emblazoned with vibrantly flamboyant designs that would certainly entrance anyone if their home were covered in them. Preijde is a recent graduate of the Textile Design Department at the Royal Academy of Art, which gives us a little bit of insight into the mind of the designer. Only a true textile master could create such an exquisite exhibit that is sure to please people of all ages.
