Netted Hammock Installations
The WHITE Project is Artful and Spatially Interactive

By: Jana Pijak (Superstar) Apr 11, 12
{SummaryTitle}

Created by a group of architecture students in California, the WHITE project is an interactive art installation that is moveable, malleable and climbable. Filling an entire gallery space, the fabricated art piece is constructed from a series of cut and woven strips of plastic sheathing.

Merged together to create overlapping panels, this sculptural piece explores the relationship between materiality and space. Made to resemble an organic, cave-like environment, the piece’s materiality is reminiscent of a netted hammock.

The WHITE project combines the mind power of 20 California Polytechnic State University students. Created to inform and educate visitors, this massive art installation is 7432 square meters in length, making it an artful and imaginative makeshift habitat for design-loving visitors.
