Layered Silhouette Landscapes
Vanessa Marsh's Artwork Places Compositions onto One Another

{SummaryTitle}

Vanessa Marsh’s artwork makes use of a layered technique. Her dark silhouettes are placed delicately upon one another over an extended period of time. The final product gives off the illusion of dimension and volume.

Marsh’s step-by-step process involves acetate drawings and miniature landscape models. Photographs taken of the progressive layout are then combined, amassing the gradual development of her work within a single piece.

This combination of multiple elements stems from Marsh’s fascination with memory, imagination and time-space considerations, “...I am exploring not only the working of memory and imagination but also our contemporary relationship to the landscape, where we might find ourselves in the future…”

As her pictures are abstract and in turn thought-provoking, she is accomplishing her goal of addressing these complex concerns through her novel design medium.
