Butterfly Wing Collages
Artist Vadim Zaritsky Creates Stunning Scenes That Look Like Paintings

{SummaryTitle}

At first Vadim Zaritsky’s artworks look like paintings in the vein of renowned impressionist painters such as Claude Monet. It would surprise people, however, to learn that the Russian artist’s medium does not involve acrylics. Instead, he ‘paints’ with butterfly wings.

Looking closer, the shape of each wing becomes discernible in Vadim Zaritsky’s striking art. More collages than anything else, they depict portraits, still life and landscapes. Fascinated with butterflies since childhood, Vadim Zaritsky began to collect them. Saddened by fellow collectors’ habits to throw away dead or damaged bodies, he found that there was a better way to recycle them.

Over the last five years, Vadim Zaritsky has created more than 100 butterfly wing collages. Despite the vibrancy of some wings, he prefers retrained color combinations that set a more subdued mood.
