The Consumer Electronics Show is all about showing the next big thing, and image resolution doesn’t come any bigger than the Ultra-High Definition screens on display at the show.
Like the same hurdles regular HD screens had when they hit the market, if you don’t have the content, you can’t show off the screen. With that in mind, insanely popular streaming service Netflix and Samsung have teamed up to show off the possibilities of UHD streaming.
Since it’ll likely be a stretch of time until UHD screens are as widely adopted as HD flat screens, they have time to work out the kinks in the service. The biggest obstacle to overcome is the lack of broadband availability in many places in the world. Still, the ability to see the exact microscopic texture on Robert de Niro’s mole has us more excited than it really should.
