Flowering Eco-Streetlights
The Windtulip Lights Up the Night While Collecting Wind Energy

By: Michael Hines (Superstar) Dec 16, 11

The Windtulip is a conceptual streetlight that also works as a wind power generator. The Windtulip was designed by Mebrue Oral to provide light while gathering power.

Wind power is everywhere, yet wind turbines are not. The Windtulip would be a more reasonable alternative to gathering wind power than the massive wind turbines seen around the world. Even if the Windtulip couldn’t gather enough power to help curb a city’s electricty use, it could more than likely gather enough power to power itself. This in and of itself would be great as it would cut a city’s energy consumption substantially by removing all of the streetlights from its grid. The fact that it doesn’t look half-bad makes things all the more better.
