Although the saying “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” might ring true for many women, it seems that many ladies of the 19th Century were perfectly okay with receiving a sewing thimble instead! Personally, I don’t know if I’d be too keen on that, but the diamond-less “Posy Ring,” which includes a message or poem engraved inside, does sound quite nice.
