The Canadian Social Entrepreneurship Foundation Invests in Innovation

By: Bianca Bartz (Superstar) Feb 7, 12

The Canadian Social Entrepreneurship Foundation is dedicated to helping foster the growth of social enterprise through education and resources, events, mentorship and relationship building services.

Their website offers a lot of detail on what a social entrepreneur is, news about the Canadian social enterprise sector, interviews and videos, and resources for those wanting to get involved, either as a social entrepreneur or a donor looking to help foster social innovation.

The organization was founded as a not for profit by Vancouver-based Jason Carvalho. He has been involved with startups including Indochino, Neverblue.com, Paretologic.com, Fortuno Lending Ltd., MarilynJean.com and not for profit OneGlobaltribe.org.

The organization, 60% of which is based online, strives to “bridge the gap” between business, government and the non profit sectors to create positive, sustainable social change. They invest in social inventors, human rights, health, child and youth, women at risk, aboriginal youth ventures, environment, civic engagement, economic development, technology social enterprises and social software.
