Flocking Object Photography
Swarms by Thomas Jackson is Slightly Sinister

By: Meghan Young (Superstar) Dec 16, 11

The photo series titled Swarms by Thomas Jackson may still be a work in progress, described more as ‘sketches’ than anything else by the photographer himself, but the few images he has managed to capture thus far are still incredibly impressive. It is centered around floating objects that surreally flock together like a school of fish or a swarm of insects. From cups to leaves, this series animates these objects in such a way that really makes them appear alive.

Shot in locations around New York City, Swarms by Thomas Jackson is clever, creative and full of character. Although there is a sinister sense to each image, as though these objects are converging for some evil purpose, there is a cute quality about them as well.
