Health-Monitoring Patches
The Stretchable Electronic Skin by MC10 Provides More Real-Time Info

By: Meghan Young (Superstar) Sep 13, 12

Researchers, health institutions and more are continually finding better ways to monitor health, stretchable electronic skin being one of the latest developments. Essentially, this thin wearable patch will be able to send information about patients back to health practitioners on a more real-time basis. This will allow them to act faster when something goes wrong or is simply not working properly.

Developed by University of Illinois scientist John Rogers, the stretchable electronic skin was created using gold electrodes and other nanometer thick wires deposited in a serpentine fashion onto thin films of silicon wafers. Rogers is also the co-founder of MC10, a start up based in Cambridge, Massachusetts that is behind the commercialization of this product.
