Launching in Japanese Burger King locations on September 28th 2012, the Premium Kuro Burger uses a unique topping to attract business.
Although it features a black bun that looks very similar to the Darth Vader Burger released by a European fast food chain in early 2012, the Premium Kuro Burger has another much more distinctive trait—it’s topped with squid ink.
The burger starts with a bun blended with bamboo charcoal to give it a darkened appearance. Next is a paprika-flavored beef patty that contrasts nicely with the bun because it has a slightly lighter color than normal patties. On top of the patty go pickles, lettuce and onion; and for garnish, there’s a specially formulated dark tomato ketchup that consists of garlic mixed with squid ink.
The Premium Kuro is available for a limited time and marks the fifth anniversary of Burger King’s return to Japan.
