Automotive Noise Absorbers
Sound Drops Reduce the Din of Freeways to Make Use of Urban Niches

By: Amelia Roblin (Superstar) Jul 14, 12
{SummaryTitle}

The concept behind Sound Drops is an innovative solution to making better use of more metropolitan precincts. Areas where there are highway overpasses, for instance, are less desirable for businesses and less successful when converted into urban parks.

What Andrea Strata proposes is the installation of hundreds or even thousands of these teardrop-shaped devices beneath bridges and raised sections of motorways. When strung up and packed in tightly they prove to act as sponges for much of the sound pollution emitted by high volumes of traffic. Different colors and lengths can afford even greater visual results. With these niche environments becoming more attractive to the senses, Sound Drops indirectly encourage the gentrification of expansive strips of city land.
