While there are many social businesses that offer jobs to at-risk adults, not all of them claim to offer higher-paying employment like Social Imprints. Based in San Francisco, this custom printing company was named one of America’s Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs in 2011.
Interestingly, there’s a story to sell behind this business as well. The featured YouTube video illuminates how Kevin McCracken went from addict to Founder and COO by creating an environment in which recovering drug abusers and ex-offenders can find long-term employment opportunities.
But of course, a story can only go so far. Social Imprints offers services have garned clients like band She and Him and JetBlue. And that’s what keeps people coming back. “Our clients have an 80 percent reorder rate,” McCracken told Bloomberg BusinessWeek.
