Little Lamppost Receptacles
The Smartstreets-Smartbin Would Be Installed to Reduce Petty Litter

{SummaryTitle}

Folks in the Western world have gotten a great deal better about throwing out items like takeout coffee cups, drink bottles and meal cartons into designated curbside receptacles; however, things like chewing gum and smokes are constantly being dropped on the sidewalk. The Smartstreets-Smartbin is a handy little garbage can that could be installed in great numbers throughout cities for increased convenience.

Designed by Andrew Farish, the tiny trash can would be made from recycled aluminum and be easily fixed to the existing streetlights and signposts amidst urban environments. The concept integrates a compact chamber that could be accessed by cleaners with a key. Pedestrians would find the Smartstreets-Smartbin at corners and crosswalks, providing a convenient way and place to discard cigarette butts and breath fresheners the moment they stop and think about them.
