'Smartphones and Society' Shows How Technology Affects Our Lives

Without realizing, most iPhone, Blackberry and Android owners have some sort of smartphone addiction. The ‘Smartphones and Society’ infographic by WhoCalledMyPhone.net reveals these addictions by measuring how many smartphone users use their phones in movie theatres, in the bathroom and even while driving. A rather daunting statistic reveals that over 80% of smartphone users check their smartphone within 15 minutes of waking up, showing that even a refreshing sleep can’t separate smartphone addicts from their devices for long.

A particularly interesting portion of the infographic reveals that smartphones have led to higher stress rates in full-time office workers, since with smartphones, work emails and texts from bosses reach employees directly, closing the gap between work and personal lives.

With smartphones already dominating the technology industry, it’s no wonder that users have become so addicted to the quick contact and accessibility that these devices provide. However, with smartphones potentially leading to poor eyesight in children and a reduced ability to focus, perhaps smartphone users might want to take a break, or at least take their smartphone activities outdoors.
