Modern Hinged Lighting
The Shutter Lamp by Ferréol Babin Adjusts Direction of Glow

By: Meghan Young (Superstar) May 2, 13
{SummaryTitle}

The Shutter Lamp boasts an extremely minimalist design. So much so that its purpose may seem slightly ambiguous to some. Taking on a geometric form comprised of a circle and rectangle, it could easily be mistaken for a colorful sculpture if not for the wire snaking from one end. The circular top of the Shutter Lamp is not there just for looks, it provides more control over the illumination itself.

Designed by Ferréol Babin, a designer based in Reims, France, the Shutter Lamp hides a set of powerful LEDs in its body. The reflective disc above intensifies and directs the light as needed. Like a jewelry box, the top opens and closes to to just that. It can be used as a table or wall light.
