Extreme Zoo Awareness Stunts
Redesigned Habitats Open Eyes to Ecological Destruction

By: Andrew Robichaud (Rockstar) Jun 30, 09
{SummaryTitle}

Austrian artists Christoph Steinbrener and Rainer Dempf are making a case for environmental awareness with minor changes made to zoo animal habitats.

Each different habitat at the Schonbrunn zoo in Vienna (Austria) possess an object that pollutes or ruins the environment in some way. There are cars in the rhino pools, oil pumps in the penguin pen, train tracks through the buffalo area, and a toxic waste barrel in the fish tank.

The props at the Schonbrunn zoo open your eyes to the torture that wildlife encounters on a regular basis because of our actions. It’s a very simple yet powerful exhibit that sends a powerful message to zoo visitors.
