Russia Pavilion for Shanghai World Expo 2010 Inspired by Tradition

{SummaryTitle}

The Russia Pavilion for Shanghai World Expo 2010 is a design wonder with its lacy white exterior. With an attention to detail reminiscent of iconic Russian matryoshka dolls, the exterior of the structure looks like something from a futuristic movie set. Arch Daily says the designs were inspired by traditional Russian womenswear.

“The 20-meter towers, in white, red and gold, will duplicate the ancient Ural towns dating back 3,000 years ago, but given a modern touch with their irregular shapes,” the Expo site explains. They demonstrate the diversity of both ancient and modern cities.”

We’ve featured some remarkable structures for the Shanghai 2010 Expo on Trend Hunter, and if you’re fascinated by unique architecture, they’re well worth checking out!
