Recycled Spectrum Art
The Rubbish Rainbows Series by Betty Jo Designs is Unique and Bright

By: Carly Foy (Star) May 13, 11

The Rubbish Rainbows collection by Betty Jo Designs is a beautiful series that takes garbage and turns it into found art.

Her work is composed of plastic pieces she finds on walks. One segment of the series showcases all objects found at various beaches. Almost all the pieces are brightly colored and are aptly entitled from where they came from, such as “Elwood Beach Plastic” and “Sth Melbourne Beach Refuse Rainbow.” My favorite of the Rubbish Rainbow series would be the Beach Lids piece, which showcases various colored bottle caps in true rainbow style.

Betty Jo Designs’ Rubbish Rainbows series has, “[...] brightened up people’s day and sent a little message about the problems with our disposable culture,” according to its artist Liz Jones.
