Cropped Color Block Couture
Cropped Tops are Back for in Color for Roland Mouret Spring 2014

By: Emilie Picillo (Superstar) Oct 27, 13
{SummaryTitle}

The Roland Mouret Spring 2014 Collection brings back Spring memories with colorful cropped tops and prints. This collection takes inspiration from Daniel Buren’s abstract pieces from the Paris’ Palais Royal. Mouret combines tension between wild exuberance and tamed classicism resulting in a dramatic ensemble for spring.

Formal staples in the collection are shift dresses, pencil skirts and neat car coats that are redrawn with abstract lines and eel skin as a new seasonal stripe. The collection is bold and sultry, really emphasizing the natural curves of the body along with subtle accents of mesh. Each piece is constructed with skewed folds and crevices and black and gray pieces are accented with bold green bags and accent folds. Mouret did a very good job in translating abstract art to a physically functional medium.
