Pentagon-Shaped Cocoon Seating
Quiet by TILT Provides Much-Needed Personal Space

By: Meghan Young (Superstar) May 30, 13

Quiet by TILT, an award winning design and architecture practice based in London, is a seating that provides some much-needed personal space in public areas. Although it can also be utilized in private places as well for added serenity and solitude, it is particularly useful in open concept offices that require such practical pieces of furniture.

Nevetheless, Quiet by TILT goes beyond practicality to introduce a sculptural design into spaces as well. Shaped like a pentagon, it is “deliberately cocoon like, allowing the user to feel protected and cosy, almost immune to the outside world,” as described by the designers. It was conceived during codesign workshops with staff and patients at the Whittington Hospital in London.

Quiet by TILT was launched at Clerkenwell Design Festival this year.
