Back in 2007, Filipino convicts won over the world with their viral dance videos and the Prison Dancer musical intends to take their fan base to a whole new level. Inspired by the Dancing Inmates of Cebu, Prison Dancer is an interactive web musical that will span over 12 episodes.

Created by Romeo Candido, Carmen De Jesus and Ana Serrano, Prison Dancer tells the story of “6 Filipino prisoners whose lives are forever changed by the dancing rehabilitation program that eventually became a worldwide viral sensation on Youtube,” according to the musical’s site. The web series appropriately features YouTube stars in their own right such as Toronto native Jeigh Madjus who plays Ruperto Poblador aka LOLA.
