Founded in 2006, Po-Zu, which translates to “pause” in Japanese, is an ethical and environmentally focused shoe company based in the United Kingdom. “Our shoes are made from carefully chosen natural materials that are healthy for your feet, safe for all the workers throughout our supply chain, and kind to the environment,” they write on their website. “We avoid harmful glues by stitching all the components together, which makes our shoes more breathable, durable, repairable and recyclable.”
It was in 2006 that Po-Zu was nominated for “best packaging” from the Green Awards due to its innovative shoe box which consisted of coconut husk. Now, the social and ecological business continues its designs with vegan shoes, a collaboration with Timberland and a production team in Portugal—all a testament to the growing slow fashion industry.
