Using his own daughter as the subject, Luke Jerram’s pixelated art sculpture is truly an interesting concept that looks at the connected generation. The thought-provoking sculpture sits at the Bristol Temple Meads train station in England and as people walked by the sculpture it created a buzz because of how surreal the concept is.
Jerram explains that, “from the age of 3 my daughter Maya could use an iPhone. For her the technology was like a pencil, just another everyday tool to be used.” It’s scary to think that the reality at which children are now predominately living in is actually a virtual reality where people are represented in the same pixelated fashion that Jerram’s daughter is depicted. This pixelated art sculpture is definitely an inventive creation, and the careful message that it evokes is truly something to think about.
