{SummaryTitle}

At first glance, the Pilot Stool looks like a sanitary napkin for women. The ‘wings’ on the side are more identifiable to that personal hygiene product than a plane, that’s for sure. Nevertheless, most people will see the Pilot Stool for what it really is: A seat that is both stunning and simplistic.

Designed by Patrick Rampelotto & Fritz Pernkopf for Quinze & Milan, a furniture manufacturer based in Belgium, the Pilot Stool is unique not only because of its subtle nod to aviation, it is also made out of utilizes a polypropylene foam for the molded seat. This material allows for a piece of furniture that is at once glossy and matte while also preserving a sense of transparency during the hardening process.
