The Philips Design City Light Will Let Your Home Blossom

When it comes to the power a city wastes, I always immediately think of how office buildings and skyscrapers leave their lights on all night but what I fail to ponder is how much energy street lamps consume by being left on until morning. The Philips Design City Light deals with that issue.

Both solar- and wind-powered, the Philips Design City Light mimics the blooming of a flower, opening its pedals during the day to harvest energy from the sun and using said energy at night to power its LED lights.

The coolest part about the Philips Design City Light is that it has a motion sensor to automatically shut off when no one is around. What’s more, any surplus energy it stores can be used to power other devices in the city.
