Culture-Clashing Menswear
The Phenomenon Fall/Winter 2013 is British and Scottish-Inspired

{SummaryTitle}

For the Phenomenon Fall/Winter 2013 collection, designer Takeshi Osumi clashes a combination of British and Scottish influences. The collection makes reference to elements from each country, like chunky cabled fisherman’s sweaters, plaids, militaristic detailing, houndstooth and a bright taxi-cab yellow color. You might not think that these things would all go together harmoniously, but Osumi pulls them all together quite well.

The garments are put together with unusually juxtaposed materials and patterns, such as geometric cutouts that replace one material with another. One unusual combination is a leather jacket with wooly sleeves, creating an interesting blend of hard and soft materials.

Although the hybrid menswear collection has an unusual aesthetic, the Japanese designer has fused the sharpness of British styling with the relaxed Scottish Highlands in a new and interesting way.
