Sea Creature Bike Racks
Parking Squid by Susan Robb is Artistic and Functional

By: Kevin Young (Star) May 12, 12
{SummaryTitle}

Giant squids are usually seen in the deep blue sea or in science fiction novels, but Parking Squid by Susan Robb is a massive squid sculpture that sits on the street.

It’s a bike rack with squiggly tentacles to lock the bicycles to; perfect for bikers who sometimes have trouble securing their bikes to dinky little lock stands. The tentacular sculpture currently sits at the Seattle Center, but will be moved to a permanent home on some Seattle streets.

It’s an architectural sculpture that provides artistry to the city along with functionality. It’s the point of interactions and meetings while making the city look a little more funky. By the end of 2012, the city of Seattle will be more familiar with additional Parking Squids that will take over the streets.
