The Opening Ceremony and Adidas Summer 2012 collection for the Olympic Games is an upscaled, mod version of an old patchwork quilt.
The garments only feature the iconic hues of the Union Jack and are pulled together in distinct blocks of color. There are striped-style shirts and also patchwork or checkered designs featured in the 100+ item collection. All pieces are also embossed with intricate and curling flowers. The decorative scrawl give the line a regal feel, perhaps a nod to the monarchy still in place in the U.K..
As the Olympic Games draw near, it is only a matter of time before the people in London, natives and tourists alike, to fill the street with gear that adequately proclaims patriotism. The nice thing about this particular edition of Olympic clothing is it’s wearability outside of the Games—the design is beautiful, yet also versatile.
