Figurine Portrait Photobooths
The Omote 3D by Spoon & Tamago

By: Meghan Young (Superstar) Nov 16, 12

The classic and fun photobooth concept has been taken to a whole new level thanks to the Omote 3D. Instead of instant pictures or even motion-capturing flipbooks, the Omote 3D project captures the essence of a person in figurine form. The creation of such toys is nothing new, but applying it to everyday portrait of a person is.

The process of the Omote 3D is pretty straightforward. A person’s entire body is scanned, the information of which is transferred to a computer to design schematics to print a realistic figurine.

Conceived and created by Spoon & Tamago, a blog and studio based in New York City and Tokyo, Japan, the Omote 3D is currently part of a pop up installation for the Eye of Grye exhibition.
