Branching Aerodome Beams
The Oita Airport Lounge by Takao Shiotsuka is Inspired by Nature

{SummaryTitle}

The land of Japan has an innate beauty and serenity that is reflected in the Oita Airport Lounge. Smack dab in the middle of the room, Japanese architect Takao Shiotsuka has placed a branching beam. This beam boasts a strikingly abstract resemblance to a tree. The ‘trunk’ rises majestically to the ceiling, extending outwards to provide a visually stunning canopy above.

Fashioned out of wood, the ‘tree’ in the middle of the Oita Airport Lounge doubles as a table for which travellers can rest by to write, read or perform any other quiet activity. Complete with frosted glass to separate those within from those without, the Oita Airport Lounge is a sanctuary from the hectic happenings that often occur in such settings.
