Citywide Eco-Friendly Street Lights
NYC Will Test LED Lamps in 2009

By: Marissa Brassfield (Superstar) Dec 21, 08

This is what the Big Apple’s outdoor lamps could look like if the city approves a move to replace all 300,000 of its street lamps with energy-efficient LED versions. Unfortunately, the move won’t happen overnight. From the beginning of 2009 through the fall, NYC will experiment with six LED lamps.

The New York City Department of Transportation is working in conjunction with the Office for Visual Interaction to help them test and implement the new LED street lights.
