Uncomfortably Touchy Photography
New York Photographer Joy McKinney's Shots are Highly Awkward

By: Lacey-Jane Walsh (Rockstar) Jun 17, 13

Intriguing New York photographer Joy McKinney created a photo series that involved her sticking her hand in the faces of strangers. This seemingly rude photography series is actually quite interesting, considering that all of these random people seem to react differently. Some seem to smile or laugh, while others look quite serious or unimpressed.

The photographer’s painted red nails appear in each and every shot, covering the mouths of her portrait subjects. McKinney seems to have found an extremely diverse group of people to include in her uncomfortably touchy photos. She photographs guys, gals, old and young alike.

All of these intrusive shots were taken outside, in crowded areas on a beautiful sunny day. Maybe McKinney thought strangers would be in a better mood if the weather was nice (which is key when you plan to touch a stranger’s face.)
