The recently unveiled New York City digital plan aims to put the mega metropolis at the top of the digital map. The New York City digital plan was created through a series of partnerships with major tech and digital players: Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Tumblr, among others.
Leading up to the New York City digital plan was a 90-day review of how technology was being used by the city and opportunities for improving the urban experience. With social media and other digital platforms recognized by most as long term communication tools—and not merely fads—the digital plan also serves as a marketing strategy to promote New York City as the innovative global city. New York City is certainly setting the bar for other cities.
