A small but emerging niche market within social entrepreneurship at large is munificent music accessories, that is, audio accessories like headphones and speakers that have a social slant.
One biggie in the market is House of Marley, which was recently profiled on Social Business. They’ve taken Bob Marley and used his name and his brand (yes, the Bob Marley “brand”) in order to sell audio accessories. It’s taken off much more than it would seem and stems from a range of other Marley-specific products, most controversially, the Marley’s Mellow Mood, which has been pulled from New Jersey schools.
From reggae boombox packs from House of Marley to upcycled wooden audio gear and music-sharing charities, the sound here for these businesses is socially conscious.
