Lunar Phase Chronographs
The Moon Shine Clock Wanes and Waxes with the Hour

By: Amelia Roblin (Superstar) Oct 14, 11
{SummaryTitle}

By now, the image of the classic analogue wall clock is more than a little predictable, which makes concepts like the Moon Shine Clock all the more intriguing. What’s more is that besides a compelling appearance, this Yong-min Lee invention is so much more than a timekeeper.

What we’ve got is a small horizontal track with a digital dial fixed to the right hand side. The hour and minute are displayed numerically in the center of the face and surrounded in a quadrant-marked perimeter. A tiny dot circles the outlining orbit, indicating the specifications of the integrated timer. To switch on the Moon Shine Clock, the user simply slides the bright yellow OLED circle to the left side of the track, which gradually travels in behind the dark eclipse, dimming its light and demonstrating the phases of the moon.
