The clean design and geometric patterns of these glowing orbs make these lights a must-have in every home; after all, it’s all about modern lighting for easy living.
Yamagawa collaborated with designer Tokujin Yoshioka to design a lamp named the “Tear drop”. When you hold the lamp with both hands, you feel like you are holding the light itself. Made of transparent glass with a simple oval structure, it looks beautiful on, or off.
“Teardrop’s tears touched the image of ‘light’ design,” the designers explain. “Inside a sphere of transparent glass, which appears to light up in the air like a human ‘heart’ to imagine the size of the original design of the light.”
The main focus of designers Francesco Apuzzo and Irina Jurasic at Linea1 is to find out how an object is to perform. Modern lamps designed by linea1 consist of three rectangular metal steel sheets with openings at the top to let the light flow to the sides.
“The light describes the object’s structure and informs about the relation between surface and volume.” Simply magical.
The office clip is a universal tool, and now it takes on a new form. The Paperclip Lamp, when it’s folded, looks like an old clip, but after opening and securing to the table, it transforms into a modern and very interesting design.
The lamp is only a prototype for now. It was founded as a sponsored project and invented by creative director David Teague Wykes and designer Benoit Colette.
