By: Meghan Young (Superstar) Jan 9, 13

The medical field has seen some great advancements, one of which may involve the MIRO-Lab by Moritz Philip Schmidt, a product designer based in Kenzingen, Germany. It is a robot-human hybrid workstation that utilizes the best of two worlds. By combining the precision of robotics with the human know-how of surgeons, this medical workstation is capable of increasing the performance of minimally invasive surgeries.

Controlled via hand and foot outputs with haptic and tactile feedback, the MIRO-Lab by Moritz Philip Schmidt provides an unrivalled amount of control for the surgeon. Displayed on a 3D screen via a fibrescope, the operating area becomes much more manageable while also offering a higher degree of immersion. The station itself is very ergonomic.
