Case Design Studio has created a retreat with this elevated, minimalist home design. This one-storey home is raised via a single platform, making the home look almost like it’s levitating. The architects kept everything extremely simple in traditional Japanese style; this is seen with the conventional Japanese room filled with tatami mats. The focal point of the house is the central, spacious dining room, which is equipped with ceiling windows for more light.
The architects designed the house to be open-concept, so that each room flowed into another, without any “dead ends.” A stunning contrast is achieved throughout the house, as all the walls—except the dark timber-lined dining area—are painted white. This sleek minimalist home is located in a beautifully wooded area in Fujizakura, called Yamanashi Prefecture, and offers plenty of windows with which one can enjoy the view; the home itself is a spacious, uncluttered and modest.
