Shaun Samson's Mexican Blanket Collection is Perfect for Baja's Beaches

By: Michael Hines (Superstar) Jun 21, 12
{SummaryTitle}

Those who have ever lived in Southern California will instantly recognize Shaun Samson’s new Mexican Blanket collection. The London-based streetwear designer has created a range of shirts and shorts inspired by the colorful Mexican blankets sold to tourists and the fashion of the beach kids he grew up with in San Diego.

At first glance, the Mexican Blanket collection looks to be nothing more than a collection of colorful shirts and shorts. However, upon closer inspection, you will see that Samson actually spliced in bits of real Mexican blankets into each piece. The designer used his signature technique—needle-punch felting—to integrate patches of blanket into each shirt and pair of shorts—oh, and he did it all by hand. The collection is being carried by Opening Ceremony and should be available now.
