Funky Flying Cameras
The Parrot AR Drone 2.0 Can Turn Your Reality Digital

By: yang_lee (Rookie) Jan 21, 12

The CES 2012 in Las Vegas witnessed the debut of Parrot AR Drone 2.0: a flying camera, which has caused quite the buzz across many media channels.

The flying camera can reach up to 50 meters high capturing high definition pictures in a wider aerial view. Users can connect the flying camera to their smart phones and iPad. Parrot has teamed up with Android so that users can take high quality pictures and share them immediately, saving the hassle of transferring pictures to laptops first and then uploading them to Facebook or other websites.

Parrot AR Drone 2.0 has more great features than the previous generation. It has increased stability as it includes a 3-axis accelerometer, a 3-axis gyroscope, a 3-axis magnetometer and an array of new sensors. It would be extremely useful for a media or camera crew. Its interface is more user friendly, just move your fingers around the touch screen of your smartphone or iPad, then you are literally steering it. One thing for the third generation to improve is to break out the reception area restriction, as the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 can’t function outside the smart phone’s WiFi range.

Overall, the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 has a promising future, and it will be available on the market by spring 2012 first in the U.S, and then overseas.
