Electrifyingly Eruptive Volcanic Photography
Martin Rietze Captures a Rare Natural Phenomenon

By: Michael Hemsworth (Superstar) Mar 13, 13

In what it one of the most phenomenal set of photographic snaps ever captured, Martin Rietze has had the excitement of being one of the first people to witness and photograph a volcanic eruption that conjures a lightning storm.

The set of photographic captures were voted as NASA’s photo of the week just recently and several members of the scientific community are praising the shots as being terrifyingly beautiful. The vibrant colors and electrifying bolts of lightning make each of the captures bittersweet because while Rietze was able to capture the shots, he risked his life to do so.

The photo set by Rietze features an erupting volcano in Japan, which had such ferocious intensity that it caused a lightning storm. So, enjoy these snaps because it’ll likely be the only time you’ll see anything like it.
