Clare McGibbon’s DIY marble scarf tutorial is a great way to upcycle any old scarves for the summer. A fun way to play around with colors, patterns and the art of marbling, this DIY marble tutorial is super simple and crafty.

For this marble scarf DIY, all you need are liquid acrylic paints, paint brushes, either a 100% silk or cotton white scarf and a few readily available chemicals. For the prep, the scarf needs to soak in the alum so that the colors can sick to the fabric. Then, mix all your acrylic colors in separate plastic cups and dot them onto the scarf. Once they begin to bubble, take a paint brush and create lines to simulate marbling! Clare also explains several marbling techniques like Turkish Stone, back and forth and nonpareil.

This DIY marble scarf is so elegant that it like something you’d purchase at a hip boutique, but instead you made for a fraction of the cost.
