The Mamelodi Pod Could Help to Raise Life Quality in South Africa

Although only in its prototype phase, the Mamelodi Pod could help to revolutionize how people live in countries like South Africa.

Design studio Architecture For A Change wanted to create an abode that allowed those who lived in it basic human luxurious. These luxuries include a bathroom, a bed and access to water. This pod has four bunk beds and an exterior toilet. The bathroom has a French drain, which means it does not need to be connected to a sewer. Also, the pod comes equipped with a parabolic solar cooker. Most importantly, the pod comes with a 1,000 liter container that will hold water. Because it is raised off the ground and in a particular container, the water will continue to be clean.

The Mamelodi Pod could be a revolutionary home. The fact that it can offer a family a bed to sleep in, a bathroom and clean drinking water is enough to change the lives of those living in it.
